Accredited Commonwealth Organisations

A wide variety of civil society and professional organisations working in specialist areas from education to urban planning are accredited to the Commonwealth.


The Commonwealth Secretariat manages the accreditation process.  To gain accreditation organisations must meet the following five criteria:

  • be committed to the Commonwealth‘s fundamental values as set out in the Commonwealth Charter
  • represent the true diversity of all 53 Commonwealth countries
  • have been in existence for at least two years and be able to demonstrate a tracked record of dedicated activity involving Commonwealth citizens throughout this time
  • demonstrate that they are accountable and transparent
  • the organisation is open to all 53 countries of the Commonwealth


There are 27 main sectors which are covered by the Accredited Commonwealth Organisations:
